Bookmark ref in the footer requires update each time, any way aro.

I've set an Ask field code to get a bookmark reference and I've copied the
ref throughout the document successfully, except to the footer. The footer
always requires an update - manually going into the footer and hitting F9.

Anyone know anyway around this?

Try this macro:
Sub UpdateFooterField()
IsProtected = UnProtectDocument
Dim sec As Section
For Each sec In ActiveDocument.Sections
sec.Footers(wdHeaderFooterPrimary).Range.Fields.Update
Next sec
Call ProtectDocument(IsProtected)
End Sub
