borders not printing for banners over 1m long

when setting a banner in publisher 2002, the border of the banner would not
print if the banner is over 1m in length. The borders will not show in print
pre-view either.

how do I know whether I have a printer margin limitation? The banner is
printed in several pieces of paper, if that is called tiling.

The borders do show up if the banner is within 1m in length though.

I have tried lowering hardware acceleration, but it did not help.

Most all printers cannot print to the edge, this is especially noticeable with
inkjets, your right border should show up regardless if your project is tiled.

Open WordPad, file, page setup, input zero into each margin box. WordPad will default
to your default borders.

What model printer are you using?

I tried it with colour laser hp3500, mono hp4200 and hp laserjet 1010. As I
say, if the banner is 1m or less, borders will print, but as soon as I
increase the width, all the borders disappear from print pre-view. Therefore
the problem lies on publisher and not the printer.

Still trying to figure this out. You've tried with three different
printers, all of which are completely incapable of full bleed
printing, and you conclude it's a Publisher issue...

The issue here is that the object prints fine for banners under 1m, but not
for banners over 1m. This shouldn't be a full bleed problem.

This is a Publisher issue, I've encountered it before, it's described in the
help files (although I am digging quite deep in my memory to drag this out).
I can't find a KB article on this, but to the best of my recollections,
pre-Publisher 2002, Publisher could not tile objects longer than a certain
length..

I managed to find the following from google group:-

"Allow me to supply you with a helpful answer to your post. This is not an
issue with your superior HP's. In fact this happens with all printers
because this is a problem within Publisher and is a known bug.

When you send a publication to the printer, each separate object in the
border art is added together to create one large metafile object.

A limit exists on the size of metafile objects that Publisher can print.
When you place a border around the edges of a banner, you may exceed this
limit if you print the banner at a high resolution.

This issue has been reported to occur when you print banners that contain
border art at a print resolution of 600 dots per inch (DPI) or higher.

RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method One
Print your banner at a lower print resolution.

Microsoft recommends that you reduce the print resolution to 300 DPI or
lower.

Method Two
Reduce the dimensions of the border art objects.

Microsoft recommends that you reduce the dimensions of the border art
objects by about two inches on each side. After you reduce the dimensions of
the border art objects, attempt to print the banner again.

If you continue to receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms"
section of this article, reduce the dimensions of the border art objects by
an additional amount, and then attempt to print the banner again.

This is the only known work around as of to date."

this seems logical that the metafile is not capable of printing banners over
a certain length, however, I am trying to change my printer setting to 300dpi
but unable to.
