Brain Dead: Need help with ????

adding a range of numbers within a column based on a corresponding cell
I have two columns, one with account numbers and one with dolla
amounts. I've sorted the range so that all account numbers are groupe
together. I want Excel to add all the dollar amounts associated wit
each account. Not sure which formula to use? Any help would b
appreciated. Thanks

Hi!

One way to do this is to use Subtotals.

Assume column A contains the account numbers and in A1 is the header
Account.
Column B contains the numeric values an in B1 is the header Amount.

Select A1
Goto Data>Subtotals
Make these selections in the user form:

At each change in: Account

Use function: Sum

Add Subtotal to: Amount

OK
