Broken Text Box Link

Greetings,

I have a 16 page booklet that I've created in Publisher 2002. I've
linked all the pages using the Text Box Link tool. Somehow the link
between pages 12 and 13 is missing so some text at the bottom of page
12 goes into overflow instead of autoflowing onto page 13.

I've tried linking the two pages together but the link tool won't let
me link 12 to 13 or vice versa. In both cases a dialog box tells me
that I can't link the two. If, for example, I select the Page 12 text
box the dialog box says that publisher can not connect a box to itself.
If I move the cup to page 13 the dialog box says that the text box must
be empty.

I've checked Microsoft's web site (Knowlege base and Office site) and
Publishers help file but to no avail. Plus I've searched this news
group and the Internet. Can anyone tell me how to get those two pages
linked?

Thanks in advance.

Best

First thing to try is to make sure the frame on page 13 is actually empty.
You might have some formatting characters that aren't visible. Easiest way
is to select the frame and then Ctrl-A to highlight all text. Then hit
Delete. If that fails, you will need to create a new text frame - there
could be a glitch with the other one. Hint: if you aren't already doing so,
use the display special characters function Ctrl-Shift-Y. This will show
what special characters are used and how the frame is formatted.

Is the text box on page 13 empty?

Ed,

The text box on page 13 is not empty. All pages (1 through 16) have a
text box with something in them (text mostly.) Page 12 shows a link
back to page 11. Page 13 shows a link forward to page 14. But, there is
no arrow on 12 showing a link to 13 nor on 13 showing a link to 12. On
the bottom of 12 I do have an overflow box since I have more text than
the text box will hold. I can solve that problem by deleteing some of
the text but that does not solve the overriding issue.

It'sa mystery to me. I've searched my help files, Microsoft's KB,
Google, etc. and can come up with no solution to the problem. Perhaps
the best thing to do is create a new booklet, link the text boxes, and
then cut and paste text from the old booklet to the new.

Connecting text boxes causes the text from box 1 to flow into text box 2.
Publisher can't do that if text box 2 already has text in it. You need to
click inside the text box on page 13, then press Ctrl+A to highlight all the
text in that story, Ctrl+X to cut it. Then go into the text box on page 12,
and set up a link into the text box on page 13. Then place the insertion
point at the end of the text box on page 13, and press Ctrl+V for paste.
