I have many contacts that contain no first or last name but only a company
name. In the default Address Book view, these contacts are listed with the
Company name duplicated in the Name field. Clicking on the record shows a
preview that includes the company but (correctly) shows no first or last
name.
This behavior could be considered a feature if it allowed a user to quickly
search for a contact by typing in the "Name contains" search box above the
contact list. Entering part or all of a company name in that box, however,
returns no hits, unless the pull-down menu is changed from "Name contains"
to "Company contains"
When a contact contains no first, middle or last name, Entourage should
display a blank in the Name column of the contact list.
A nice feature to add to Entourage would be to add a "Name or Company
contains" option to the pull-down search criterion menu in the Address book.
