HI! I am lossing emails! This is not acceptable! Since upgrading to
Entourage 2004 i have the following problem: I set up my mailbox in that
way that i can view them online in Entourage (you see on the left in the Show
Folders window the mailbox account with a green line indicating it is viewed
directly from the server which helps you deleting unwanted e-mails before
you download them into your inbox). So very often when i check for new
messages I see quickly that there is some new mails on the server, but
sometimes by clicking on it to view them and sometimes also just
automatically they disappear from the list! I can also access my mailbox with
an internet browser and there i find the mails which have disappeared in the
Entourage Window, this is unacceptable, because if i would not know, next
time I update my mailbox those would be deleted! I have not had this
problem in Entourage X. And for what using a mail programm if i have to
still constantly go and check my mails thru a browser??
Anybody has maybe experienced the same?-OR has and did not know since
updating???

I have not experienced the problem and it's not been reported by other users
AFAIK.

It's possible that Entourage is just updating the list and the messages seem
to disappear. Are you sure that Entourage has not downloaded the messages?

One option that might give you more peace of mind is to use the option in
Accounts: Advanced tab->select to leave mail on server for xxx days.

If the mail you are trying to catch before you download it is spam, you
might want to use the setting to partially download messages. You'll need to
play a bit with the size. This will catch most of your spam since HTML
message are larger.

I have a couple of accounts that are bombarded with spam. I set those up as
an IMAP account rather than POP so I don't have to download all that crap
errrr spam to my computer. The Junk Mail Filter works great.

It sounds to me as if the messages are downloading - as POP messages are
designed to do - to your local Inbox "On My Computer" every time the Send &
Receive Schedule runs. If there's any good reason why you feel you want to
read the messages Online on the server instead of in your Inbox when they
download, then you should probably set the account (Options tab) to "leave
messages on the server". Of course if you do that your POP mailbox will fill
up within a week or two and you'll start having messages rejected by your
ISP until you remember to remove them from the server.

So why don't you just read the messages when they download to your Inbox? If
you want a separate folder for this account, make one and then make a Rule
that moves all messages from this account to it.

Hi peter,

I've noticed the same thing.
Try to control-click on the inbox where where the message should be and
select "Refresh Message List". If that doesn't work, try "Repair Message
list"

sorry-maybe my english is not precise enough-i am not a native speaker,
seems like my problem has not been understood correctly.

I dont know how to explain. I have set my mailbox to view the messages
online, so when i see some mails i dont want to download into my INBOX i
can delete them right there in the server, by the way my mailbox has never
been so full that my ISP has rejected mails. So when i check for new
messages online ( i do actually download the mails maybe once a week to
my INBOX) - often i see a message header appearing (its set to look bold
red) for a split second then its gone! so i go thru a browser to check my
mails right on the server and there the message is still there! the problem is
when i actually donwload the mails into my INBOX only the ones i have
within the 'online-list' in entourage will be downladed the rest will be
deleted by entourage from the server.-AND if i would not have been seeing
the header for this split second i would not go and check for this missing
mail(s) so therefore i would have never seen them since they would have
never been downloaded into my INBOX.

It may not be an Entourage issue. I just installed Office Mac 2004 because
of email that vanish. For the last month, using Mac Mail and .mac one of my
mail accounts mail will vanish. My wife has seen it disappear in front of
her eyes with the poof. I installed Entourage to see if it was an issue
with my computer or Mail program. I have not noticed missing mail in
Entourage yet, only had it two days. To verify the missing email I set the
..mac website to forward to a comcast email and have both accounts pull down,
2 out of over 30 (that showed in Comast email) survived in the .mac account
in Mail. I am starting to think it may be .mac.
