I want to build a family tree on my laptop starting with mom & four dads, ten
children some with more than one husband or wife, all the grandkids, then the
great grandkids....Lots of names on total...some kind of link from a
grandkids name to a picture of that person...The ability to back up and add a
branch when it is found someone was overlooked along with their offspring, or
in the event of remarriage and more kids with different last names.

Why don't you just get one of the many genealogy programs available?
