Bullets & Numbering Problems - Driving me nuts

I have documents that are full of numbered lists.
everytime I want to use the same style number like
(Heading 2) or soemthing, it continues from the last time
used. So mu documents look like this:

1. Article 1
a. Text, Text, Text
b. Text, Text, Text

2. Article 2
C. Text, Text, Text
d. Text, Text, Text

I need the numbered list to start over at "a" for each
time, not a, b, c, d, .... and so on. I need a, b, c...
next section, a, b, c, ....

Does anyone know how this works??
