Business Contact Management Manual Backup

Hi,
I have a machine with windows XP Pro, the harddrive is
dying but i can still get data off it even though I cannot
boot the OS.

I need to keep all of my contacts from BCM.
I have found a couple of files
(MSBusinessContactManager.mdf and
MSBusinessContactManager.ldf) which are under docs and
settings\username\local setting\microsoft etc... which i
am guessing may contain the relevant data.

my question is:
do i have the right files?
and if so, how do i import them again after a re-install?

I've not tried, but what if you use the backup functionality, and then
restore the resulting file back into the second machine? Menu:
File/Business Database ...

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

I cant boot the machine so the backup menu is out of the
question.

any other ideas?

BCM creates two database files on first run, and it puts them in the path,
which is in the user profile directory (C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Business
Contact Manager) and is a local settings directory - note that it does not
roam - which are the MSBusinessContactManager.mdf and
MSBusinessContactManager.ldf files. These files make up the default
database, which when created occupy a minimum file size of 35 MB on disk. So
if you havent created a new database the files listed above is what you are
after.

these files to BCM when you run it, you may have to rename both of them
first (just in case BCM tries to overwrite).
