Calendar & email group question.

Sorry, these are probably easy questions concerning Entourage 2004.

If I delete an email group from my address book, will it delete the actual
contacts? I doubt it but the warning message says, do you really want to
delete the contact?

Also, when I create a new Calendar event, is there a way to make the event
default to an All Day Event without having to check the box every time?

Thank you.

Dunno.
Make a test.
Create contacts for Mickey Mouse, Popeye and Goofy.
Make a group of them.
Delete the group.
Are the contacts still there or are they gone?

No, it should not. If the contact has a small person icon next to it in the
group listing, that means it is a contact stored in the Address Book and
thus shouldn't be deleted along with the group.

No, not in Entourage 2004. In Entourage X, if you created an event by
double-clicking on a day in month view, that would create an all-day event
for that day, but that behavior was changed for 2004. It might be possible
for someone to write a short script to accomplish that, but then again it
might not be worth it since you'd then have to select the date.

That depends...

Groups can contain two types of address:

1. those from other contacts (these show up in the group with a 'head &
shoulders' icon next to them). These contacts will remain in the database
when you delete the group.

2. Addresses that have been manually entered - these show up in the group
with a 'blue dot' next to them. These will be lost when you delete the
group.

Oh heck,

Thanks. I have been wondering about the difference ever since my first
Entourage.
I have seen the light......!

The beauty of the 'contact' type of entries is that changes to the contact
are automatically propagated to the group entry as well - even if the
contact is in a group which is in another group - i.e. "Aunt Bessie' is in
group 'Family' which is in group Family Events'. If Bessie changes her email
address, you only need to make the change in the 'Aunt Bessie' contact, and
the two groups will automatically use the new address for all future mail.
