Calendar: January events show up in December

I have had no problem using calendar events in the past. But as of
2006, every event I make goes to December, 2006. For example, I put a
birthday on January 26 and it shows up on December 26. My system
preferences and Entourage preferences for time zone match. However, I
have always had a problem with that. Just been living with it. It
always tells me ti doesn't match, but it does. I have rebuild
database. What other hoops do I jump through.
