Calendar problems

Rodrigo

I am new to Entourage and I am facing a strange problem:

For some reason, every time that I try to create a Calendar event or a
task with a due date, Entourage does not save this in the
corresponding day, but 7 months ahead. For instance, I tried to create
a task with due date as of today, 23 of may. When I save it, this task
shows on 23 of december. The same is happening when I try to create a
calendar event.

Anyone know by chance the way around it?

Now, if you had said it was shifting events by one hour, I would have known
what to do. However, 7 months? I fear you may be unique with this problem.
The only thing I cna suggest is to start a new identity and see if the same
thing happens there (under the Entourage menu, select 'switch identity' and
then click the 'new' button).

If the new identity is OK, it points to corruption in your current identity.
It is possibly an early sign of mild database corruption.

Office vX:
Hold down the option key when starting Entourage and take the first option
('typical rebuild'). If this doesn¹t resolve the problems, then try an
ŒAdvanced Rebuild¹.

Office 2004:
You still call the rebuilder by holding down Option key at launch, but it
now brings up a separate app "Database Utility" (which could be launched by
double-clicking of you wish) that lives in the Office subfolder.

First of all, if you have any Office apps open, a dialog comes up that
offers to quit them.

Then you get a window with a list of your identities to select from, and
four options:

1) It has a new feature "Verify database integrity" option: this should
reduce unnecessary rebuilding. Apparently it's quite sensitive. And see 4)
below.

2) "Compact the database". (Like X's "Typical rebuild").

3) Rebuild the database. (Like X's "Advanced Rebuild")

4) "Set database preferences". Actually there's only one pref: you can turn
on "Verify database in background "which means "run automatically" and let
you know if your database needs rebuilding.

Barry, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, your suggestion didn't work. I thought that might be
something related to my Exchange connection, so I tried to switch to a
new identity without any Exchange settings. It didn't work.

After more attempts, I figured that the problem is a little bit
different: All events are registered in december of a given year. This
does not occur for years prior to 2007. So, if I try to creat an event
on 23 of february, it will be register on 23 of december. Likewise if
I try to creat on 23 of may. I tried to create an event on 1st January
2008, it was registered on 1st December 2008.

Even more unique? I hope not.

What version of Entourage are you using? If it¹s Entourage X, then this
could be related to the DST change. Your server also has to be updated along
with the OS to get the new time changes.

See this article "Is your Mac ready for Daylight Savings Time?"

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/articles/daylight.html>

If you are updated,, you might need to download the combo updater from
Apple and run it again rather than using Software Update. Doing so
overwrites potentially problem-causing files. Several users have reported
this fixed some odd problems they were having with Entourage.

Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need
to roll back or do a clean install.

The combo update installer updates Mac OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3,
10.4.4, 10.4.5, 10.4.6, 10.4.7, or 10.4.8 to 10.4.9.

I'm with Barry on this one. Very bizarre!

Also be sure to check with your Exchange Server administrator to see if
his server settings may be off and verify that your Mac is time
synchronizing to a known good time server (internal Windows domain
controller / NTP server or an external time server such as
time.apple.com).

Can you verify whether or not the same Exchange Server account has the
same problem when accessing it from another machine? Also, if you use
Outlook Web Access, check the times there as well. If this is also off
then the problem is with the Exchange Server itself and not Entourage.

Hope this helps! bill

Tks. Sorry for the delay to post a reply.

Unfortunately, it seems to be a problem with Entourage. When I try to
connect through Outlook Web Access, I don't have the problem. The only
way to include a accurate date is by inserting in iCal and then have
it sync with Entourage.

Do anyone else have any thoughts? As a former Windows user, I was
willing to try the common "reinstall" solution. What do you think?
