Calendar question

Calendar automatically defaults to an all-day occurrence when I add events.
How do I change it so that it's just for a specific time, which is true for
me in 98% of the cases when I have appointments? Thanks in advance.
Using Entourage v.X, latest with all updates on Mac OSX 2.6.

Viel dank. So there's no way to keep monthly view and not have all-day
occurrence for events? Why would this be the case?

The Month view does not have time-slots on each day - only "day-slots".
There's no way that an arbitrary time-slot would make sense for most people
(why 2:00-2:30, or 9:00-10:00?), it takes just the same amount of trouble to
get the start and end times right from a default arbitrary setting as from a
default all-day setting. Think of Month View as a Summary view of settings
you've made in other views (somewhat like Summary of contacts in the Address
Book) and as a place for entering All-Day and Multi-Day events - trip away
from home, etc.

In Day View, Week View, and Work Week View, there are specific time slots.
Select the exact time slot (or nearest half-hour), command-click of need be
to expand the event to the end time you want, then open (double-click). Now
it will be already be pre-set to the time of the event with no adjustments
needed except or between-half-hour precision.

Week and Day views have a "diary" format which make them ideal for setting
timed events. Month View is an overview which is a good place for entering
all-day and multi-ay events and a rough summary of timed events (you'll only
see a few of those without expansion, so Week view is better for details).
If you still prefer to use Month View for everything, you can, but you'll
need to uncheck the "All-Day" box - not such a big deal, one extra click -
and change Reminder. To really save trouble of entering start and end times,
use Week or Day View.
