Greetings scholarly Netizens,
I'm running OS 9.2, Hot Sync Manager 3.0.0 and Entourage 2001 9.0.1 on
a Mac G3 in concert with PalmOS 3.3 on a Palm V (I know, I know... Time
to upgrade!) and it was going just fine when all of a sudden, trying to
sync crashed the laptop!
I was seeing some of the same behavior described in previous posts from
'02 - '04 (i.e. the other conduits synchronizing fine, the date book or
calendar getting hung and crashing the computer) and I have attempted
various fixes suggested in those threads (i.e. rebuilding the Entourage
DBs, isolating the other conduits, selecting Entourage Overwrites
Handheld (this last prooved necessary, though ineffective, since the
handheld has somehow lost almost all of my date book entries, hence my
sweating it) in the Conduit Settings) to no avail.
I'm not sure about the recurring events business. I haven't made any
of late, being aware of this probkem from earlier workaround efforts.
When I first encountered the problem I tried setting the native
conduits to do nothing and run using only the Entourage conduits, but
this seemed to do nothing (i.e. still crashing instead of
synchronizing)m and may be when I lost my handhled calendar events.
Now I have noticed that with all the other conduits engaged, it
synchronizes just fine, with all the others turned off it fails to
synchronize, eventually producing an error message on the handheld (to
the tune of: the connection between the handheld and the computer was
lost) but *not* in fact crashing the computer (which, admittedly is a
*little* bit better). Does anyone have any further advice.
