Calender dates

My date setting are correct on y mac and also in my calendar but when I go in to input a new appointment in comes up with a weird / non existing date - 8th April o8 Sunday . I try to adjust it to the correct date of the appointment but it will not remember this date and hence unable to save an appointment.

Please help !

Go into Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> International -->
Formats --> Dates --> Customize... and reset your date format to either
Short or Medium.
