I have the same issue. It really frustrate people using other platforms as
they have to manually adjust every event I send!
Outlook breaks dozens of internet protocols and doesn't seem to give a damn.
Entourage is scrupulous about following internet protocols, and then goes
out of its way to "interpret" Outlook's bastardizations. That's how
invitations you get from Outlook can be interpreted correctly as invitations
- Entourage corrects Outlook's mistakes. However, Outlook would have to
correct its own mistakes in order to receive Entourage's correctly-formatted
..ics files as invitations. Maybe some day. In the meantime, can't they just
double-click the .ics attachment they get in that email and have it turn
into the invitation/event? If not they should save the attachment to their
desktop or disk, change the extension to .vcs, and try double-clicking that.
But I think just double-clicking the .ics attachment should do the trick.
