Can a Pub 2003 file be opened in Pub 2000?

A friend is bringing me an Excel spreadsheet on their USB flash drive so the
list of names etc. can be mail merged on to Identification Labels. I will
set up the layout for them. I have Publisher 2003, they have Publisher 2000.
If I save the resulting *.pub file back on the same folder on the USB flash
drive, will they be able to easily open the file in Publisher 2000? (ie are
the versions compatible in this way?)
