Can Anyone Get My Entourage Working?

PS

So my neighbor is 87 and of course Microsoft wants her to pay them more
than she can really afford to *maybe* help her fix the following
problem.... so if you can help me help her, we'd both appreciate it:

When we open Entourage X for Mac, Entourage X for Mac it immediately
quits (with or without being connected to the web) and we receive the
following message:

"The application Microsoft Entourage has unexpectedly quit. The system
and other applications have not been affected. Would you like to
report this bug to Apple?"

We have already: Restarted the computer, does the Disk Aid thing,
downloaded the updated security stuff for Microsoft Office, and
Rebooted the computer on the safe-mode and then rebooted again.

Any thoughts? Work arounds?

Thanks -- I tried these..... holding down the Shift when launching the
program does nothing (it is the X version) and the rest .... well, it
crashes in less than 2 seconds, so these are not working. Other
thoughts?

Switch to a new User in System Preferences. See if Entourage opens there. If
it does, then it's a conflict in the default home folder. If it does not
open then there is a problem with your OS install.

Thanks -- that was a good beginning. So I switched to a new User.
Entourage opens there (but of course none of my stuff is there). Yeay!
So now what do I do -- I am not sure what a "default home folder"
is.....

The problem is then either in your Identity or in your preferences.
The preferneces are in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
You might consider moving them temporarely to the desktop and launching
the application to see if it is them.
If not, your ENtourage database might be very seriously damaged. Try
launching Entourage pressing the alt key to see if you can rebuild it to
correct the problem.

I hate to hijack this thread, but I'm having the same or similar
problem, and the solution might be shared.

When I try to start Entourage (11.2.5) on an 450 G4, it "encounters a
problem".

I have tried deleting all preferences, deleting all files with
'microsoft' or 'entourage' in it's name, re-installing, switching
users, holding down the shift key, de-installing, upgrading to 11.2.6,
downgrading to 11.2.5, repairing permissions, running maintenance tasks
and cleaning caches using Onyx... whew... what else can I do?
