Can Entourage users check their e-mails via the Internet?

Hi there,

I travel frequently for work, and was interested in finding out
whether Entourage for Mac OSX provides an option that allows users to
check e-mails via the Internet from another computer? I have looked
in both the Entourage Help topics and on Mactopia, but haven't been
able to find an answer....

I am not a techie by any stretch of the imagination, so answers using
small words in layman's terms would be appreciated.)

Thank you!

I think this is more a function of your ISP than of Entourage. If your mail
provider (i.e., Cox, Adelphia, etc.) have a Web-based IMAP login, then you
should be able to (a) check your email and (b) leave it on their servers
until you download it via Entourage. Naturally, email services like Yahoo!
and Google already provide this.

I'd check with your ISP and ask them. Entourage is only the email client;
it's not the email provider.

Somewhere on the internet there are sites that let you check POPmail
accounts even if your ISP doesn't offer web access. Can't remember any
offhand, try google.

If you subscribe to Yahoo mail, you can use it to retrieve mail from your
local popmail server through Yahoo's webmail interface. That always works
well, and you can configure it to either leave or remove the messages from
you popmail's server.

Yes, but (assuming your server is using POP) you should be sure that either
1. You have not left entourage running on your Mac while you're away; or
2. You have "Leave a copy of the message on the Server" under the Options
setting for that account.
