Can I access date created and date modified for Contacts

It seems that two basic fields are missing from Contact: "date created" and
"date modified." Are they there and I just can't see how to access that
information? Or if not, can I create these fields so that dates are
automatically entered whenever a new contact is created or and existing
contact is modified?

I answered almost the same question for Kelly today.

Show the Phone List view of Contacts and then show the Modified field. You
do these things through the Advanced Toolbar and Field Chooser.
