Can I access the Outlook Express .DBX file directly from VB.NET 2005

I want to create an application which will retrieve message headers and
messages and store them in a SQL database.

Does anyone know of a control or programming method which will allow me to
open and read the .DBX file format?

You would get a more expert answer in the Outlook Express newsgroup. Outlook
Express is not the same as Microsoft Outlook, in spite of the
similar-sounding names.

Outlook Express is part of Internet Explorer while Microsoft Outlook is part
of Microsoft Office.

When you post in the OE group, please ensure you provide your version and
type of mail account as well so they're not guessing what your configuration
is.

AFAIK, nope. Only OE (MSIMN.EXE) can be used to "open and read" DBX files.

It is very difficult but can be done. Its easier to use C++ than to try it
in VB.
