Can I program a button to close a window?

I would like to creat pop-up windows to define words used
on my site. I have hyperlinked the word to a new page and
set it to open in a new window. Now, is there a way to
place a button in that new window that will close it,
rather than making the reader use the X to close?

Place this where you want the button to appear:
<input type="button" value="Close" Onclick="parent.close()">

You can edit value="Close" to change the text on the button.
