Can I sort contacts by frequency of use

I have 4000 contacts and ideally need to reduce this to a more managable
number, however, I don't want to actually delete old contacts. Is there a
way of seeing, for example, which contacts I have used over the past 12
months and moving the remainder to a separate contacts file?
