Can I use Entourage to select from a library of pre-made responses?

Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

I would like to be able to pull up a notepad of sorts with a list of
pre-made responses, searchable by keyword and click on them or enter a
keyboard shortcut to paste them into the email I am responding to.
Does anyone know how I would do this?

Thank you! ^_^

I use the script Insert Notes by Barry Wainwright, which is great. You can
get it here:
<http://homepage.mac.com/barryw/FileSharing7.html>
Or at macscripter.net.

Not sure about searchable, but it gives you a list of titles in alphabetical
order so just write good titles for each pre-made response (aka
boilerplate), or you should be able to use Entourage to search the
responses. The ReadMe explains how it works.

I just make signatures and use those. Tools/Signatures/New. You can make it
as long as you want - no limit. You can even make a signature in HTML
(formatted text( text with insertion of graphics, etc. if you so wish. Then
when you send a message click the Signatures button and choose the signature
you want.

I used to do that. I could only insert one Signature per message, but that
wasn't a problem, usually. But if I typed text as well as inserting a
Signature, and didn't try to put the Sig at the very bottom of the message,
it was always hit or miss whether inserting the Signature would override
part of what I had already typed. I occasionally had to redo stuff.

Depends on workflow/style/personal choice. The Sig button on the composing
toolbar is a little more convenient to access.

That was in 2001, right? It was apt to delete part of the text. Fixed in
2004 or one of the X updates.

I usually click the signature before I've written much else. and write
around it and inline.

If there were one I wanted to use very frequently, I might do it with my
"Message Template X" script instead so I could make a new message complete
with the boilerplate all in one step by keyboard shortcut - no searching
around.

Yeah, that was 2001. Didn't give 2004 a chance to show it--never crossed my
mind that was an actual bug, just figured it was part of signature design to
force it to come at the end...
Though come to think of it, Heather didn't say what version she was using...

Workflow style...but yes, that solves the problem. 'Cept I just made some
tests, and sigs don't reliably insert where the cursor is if you try to
change your mind after inserting one.

"Message Template X" script instead so I could make a new message complete

Sounds very efficient--will keep that in mind. I keep thinking I need to
automate my teaching a little more. :) Though Barry confirmed I could
create multiple libraries of pre-made responses, for different purposes,
which also strikes me as very efficient.

I use that too, with much success.

If you have Entourage 2004, you can use the new "Office Scrapbook". In
Entourage, go to Tools > Scrapbook. You can drag in text clippings or
entire notes to add them. Each time you drag one in, add keywords under the
"Organize" header to help you find that text. You can later search by
keyword using the pop-up menu near the top of the window. When you want to
insert text into a message, just open the Scrapbook, select the text you
wish to insert, and click the Paste button (or drag it into the composition
pane).

Yet another way: TypeIt4Me. You don't even have to interact with it: you
just type an abbreviation into Entourage and your boilerplate text is
entered in its place. m.
