can not open outlook

Since yesterday, when I try to open outlook 2007 , I get the message: "can
not open outlook" and a big red X.

Does it work in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

Yes - looks like its been a microsoft update and you use mcafee antivirus.
There is a conflict which microsoft needs to sort urgently. This must affect
millions.

Which update causes issues? Why is it microsoft's problem and not mcafee's?
If its related to scanning email, they should never install hooks into
outlook without asking the customer and allowing it to be declined.
