Can not Send E-mail

Ben

I am trying to send my school e-mail (a POP3 account I
believe), through Outlook 2002. In the internet settings I
have entered my incoming and outgoing server information
correctly, but whenever I send my e-mail I get an
immediate response in my inbox that reads...

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended
recipients.

Subject: hi
Sent: 1/11/2004 10:24 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 1/11/2004 10:24 AM
553 Mail to <[email protected]> not allowed; no
relaying through this site

Any thoughts on what is causing this problem and how to
fix it?

Thanks,

~Ben~

You need to set your outgoing server to authenticate using the same
credentials as your incoming server. The message means that you are trying
to use a second SMTP server other than the one for the account that you are
using to send through. ISPs are now requiring that you authenticate before
you can send using their server to cut down on spam - like it really makes a
difference!

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Ben asked:

Thanks Milly,

I appreciate your response though my incoming and outgoing
mail servers are the same for school. The MIS dept.
mentioned something about having to change the SMTP server
due to different ISP that connect to the internet but I
don't use any other ISP's, I have a wireless network so
there is no need to dial up at all.

Any other thoughts to the situaiton?

Thanks,

~Ben~
