Can only sync Contacts to Palm?

Never really figured this out until now, but it seems that the Office
2004 Entourage Handheld Sync client doesn't know how to deal with
multiple address books. It only seems to sync items associated with my
Exchange server Contacts database. I have a local Address Book and this
is apparently ignored; there is no configuration for specific address
books (as there is for Sync Services) but I assumed that it would sync
all contacts in all address books.

Does anybody know if my observation is correct?

That's unfortunately true. Entourage will sync the address book of
whatever account is set as the default.
Exchange for an exchange account and the local one for any other type of
account.

Would it help to let sync services sync the contacts to the Apple AB, then
sync that address book to the palm?

The sync services is the same. It only syncs the default address book
(at least that's what I can see on my Mac).
