Can Project links be shared?

I am trying to share a project on two computers over Ethernet. All seems to
work accept for links The host machine with the original file can see the
links but the subscriber can't. Is this a bug, not allowed or am I missing
something else.

Links, like categories, are "personal" to one computer (identity). They're
not shared. All items within a project are available in the appropriate tab
of the project, of course.
