can worksheets be linked to create a workbook

I have in the past worked with excel workbooks but it was
long time ago. I found not such function in excel 95 or
97.
Can anyone help me with this? I keep a monthly
spreadsheet that lists names and requistion items for that
name. I would like to bring forward the information so
that I would not have to go back and look up to see if the
item has come in or not. I would like to use an if
statement that says "IF CELL D9 IN WORKSHEET FOR JANUARY
IS SHOWING ORDER NOT FILLED = "Y" THEN BRING LINE INFO
FORWARD TO SAME LINE IN FEBRUARY WORKSHEET AND SO ON AND
SO FORTH FOR EACH MONTH FOR THAT NAME AND ITEM UNTIL ORDER
IS FILLED. IF CELL D9 = N THEN IT STOPS BRINGING THE LINE
FORWARD.

I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP ON THIS AS IT IS
DRIVING ME CRAZY WHEN FOLKS COME UP TO INQUIRE ABOUT THEIR
ORDER AND I HAVE TO GO BACK SEVERAL MONTHS TO SEE THE WHAT
THE STATUS IS.
