Can you connect directly to the Exchange server with 2004?

Why can I not connect to Exchange server in Entourage 2004 like the last
version?

I am not aware of a version of Entourage that is Exchange friendly in
anything other than POP or imap IF supported by the server. There WAS a
version of Microsoft Outlook a while back (always in Beta) that was fully
Exchange friendly, but Entourage was not that I can recall.

What version do you believe you could connect to an Exchange Server NOT via
POP or imap? I am curious. (I do not use Exchange any more, so I have not
tried in a long time.) The three pop-ups I see for a new account are POP,
imap, and Hotmail/MSN.

What version of Exchange server? Only Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 (with
Service Pack 2 or later) or later are supported.

Also, the following protocols need to be enabled on the server: HTTP DAV
(Outlook Web Access), and LDAP.
There is more Exchange information available at:

Entourage 2004 uses HTTP DAV for access to the exchange server - the same
protocol used bu Outlook Web Access. POP & IMAP are no longer used (they
were used in Entourage vX).

The last version of Outlook for Mac was a 'classic' app (not in beta, but a
fully stable, released product). This product never made the transition to
OS X, but it still works in classic up to OS X 10.3.9 - I have no idea if it
will work under Tiger. This will give you the same level of access to
Exchange as was available to the windows outlook programme of the same
vintage.
