cannot access data even after reinstall

I thought I might look at the newly updated entourage, but every time
I open it it tells me it cannot access the data, I have tried
rebuilding, still nothing works, I deleted the datafile and still
nothing works, I deleted MS Ofice and reinstalled and updated but
still nothing works...perhaps i missed something.

Can anyone help?

So I tried an old trick and went to turn off microsfot office
notifications, and it says it cant as the data file is locked...the
get info window says it isn't locked, and I have opened the
permissions to 777 so what else could be locked?

Did you use "Remove Office" before you reinstalled?

What version is your newly updated Entourage?
If you deleted the data file in your Identities folder, do you know you
deleted all of your mail.

You've been a little vague. When you updated did you update from Entourage X
to Entourage 2004, or did you update your version to the latest release?
More details will help know what to suggest.
