Cannot copy Microsoft User folder

R

Russ Bankson

I want to backup my Microsoft User Folder. When I try to drag the folder to
the like Documents Folder on the other computer (connected via Firewire) I
keep getting an error message

"The operation cannot be completed because the item "Database"is use"

What causes this and how to I get around it.

I have tried to accomplish this by first quitting the running copies of
Entourage but I still get the message

The Database Daemon is a background process that is set to launch upon
start-up. It allows the Office Notifications to run even if Entourage is not
running, and it maintains a connection to the database. As such, when you
try to replace the MUD folder, Database Daemon should prevent you from doing
so. Here's the procedure you need to follow:

1) Quit Entourage and any running Office applications.

2) Quit Database Daemon on both Macs (you may leave it running on the
original Mac, but certainly not on the Mac on the receiving end). To do
that, launch an application called Activity Monitor (in
Applications/Utilities). Scroll down the list of active processes until you
see an entry called Microsoft Database Daemon. Select it, then click on the
Quit Process button in the toolbar.

You should now be able to transfer the MUD folder without getting any error
messages. If it still does not work, post back.
