Cannot create an assignment with a specific unit value fix duratio

The user adds a resource to task using Project Professional. When user
clicks to another row the dialog box pops up with:

Project cannot create an assignment with a specific unit value on a fixed
duration, effort driven task. Once the assignment is created, you can edit
unit value on the assignment.

This only occurs on one task and if you delete and recreate the task with
same info, the error occurs. However, I can go to another workstation and it
will work fine for that project.

Project Professional 2003 and Project Server 2003 sp2

Fixed Duration : Project can't calculate the duration
Effort Driven : Project can't calculate the work
Fixed unit : Project can't calculate the resource units...

In the following equation, what element Project can calculate ?
Duration x Units = Work

You have to free at least one element !
