Cannot import database error 61 error 2

I regularly rebuild my database using the office X utility and transfer
the database back and forth from desktop to laptop. Never experienced
this problem.

When starting Entourage I have the setup assistant come up instead of
recognizing the database. When trying to import main identity it comes
up with the Error (-61) and Error (2) messages.

I tried to rebuild and it creates an office 2004 folder under the
Microsoft User Data folder and quickly proceeds but is not working as
the new main under office 2004 folder and backup are blank.

The original is still there and is the correct size at just under 1GB.
I'm lost as to what to do next??

Something sounds odd here. You say you've been doing this routinely,
and you also say, when you try the rebuild, "it creates an office 2004
folder under the Microsoft User Data folder." Unless you deleted it,
you should have already had an Office 2004 folder there.

What folder contains the "original" database you are talking about?

And, please specify the exact version of Entourage you are using; it helps.

Sorry for the incomplete info. The Office 2004 folder did exist before
and in an attempt to shrink the size of the overall Microsoft User Data
(MUD) folder I moved the Office 2004 folder to a temp location. You
see I have been moving the current MUD folder back and forth with a
backup elsewhere between the desktop and laptop via firewire. I am
using V.X 11.1.0. Also, I attempted to put a backed up version of my
identity into the main identity folder with the same result. Allen,
thanks for any ideas/help!

Sounds to me as if you are confused by the folder name. Office v.X
11.1.0 creates and uses the folder "Office 2004". That is where your
identity folders live. You need that folder; that is all your data.
