Cannot insert any video in PowerPoint 2003, XP SP2

Nate

I cannot insert any video, even .wmv! The system hangs and a green colored
box appears in the left top of the screen. PowerPoint presentations created
in 2002 and opened in my 2003, XP SP2 will not play video. I can Package to
CD and it will run fine in the viewer 2003.

What other multimedia software do you have installed? (IE QT, WinAmp, DivX,
etc.)

Nate,

If you use Start > Run and enter mplay32.exe and clcik Ok you can manually
start the MCI Player (used by PowerPoint). Use File > Open and navigate to
the media files and see if they play properly.

Oops, almost forgot. Make certain that you have the latest version of
DirectX from Microsoft installed and the latest driver for your video card.
(New machines are almost certainly out of date.)
