Cannot install Office 2000 for more than 1 user account on XP

I originally had installed Office 2000 on my Win98
machine. I upgraded that machine to XP. I created 4 user
accounts, one for each member of the family. Only the
admin accont has access to MS Office applications. When
others try to open an MS Office document XP wants me to
reinstall Office for that user. When I attempt to install
I get an install error that says it cannot find
the "data1.msi" file.

This happens even when I point the install at the MS
Office 2000 CD. I have tried every imaginable approach to
install it for other accounts. all attempts have failed.

Someone suggested that I may need to uninstall and
manually clean out the registry (egads!!).

Uninstall it.

Then reinstall and choose the Custom Install option. On that next page,
there will be an option to Install for All Users.
