Cannot link more then one NDX file at once (after registering msxbde40.dllor modifying registry keys

I try to link several dBase III files (DBF) with corresponding index
files (NDX). When specifying first index and link next DBF, the index
dialog box disappear: Access delete registry key IndexFilter and changes
IndexDialog key to 00 (hex). So I am not able to link more NDX files
without corrections in registry or registering msxbde40.dll. Any solution ?

Have Win XP PRO, Access 97 and Access 2000 SP-3 installed on same computer.
