Cannot open adobe attachments to email- a pain

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: pop

When I receive an adobe pdf attachment and try to open it I get an error message calling it a WINDAT program, it tries to open with Text edit, and I get gibberish, and when I try to open it with Adobe it says the file was corrupted when it was sent. I can open them fine on my old pc running outlook, so it is not a corrupted file. Can't Microsoft get anything right?

Try using Josh Jacob's free "TNEF's Enough" application to deal with such
attachments:
