Cannot Open My Entourage Prefs

I just installed Office 2004 and Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). I cannot open
Entourage's Preferences. Microsoft Error reporting and Entourage both
die and I have to force quit both.

Any suggestions?

Quit all office apps, start up 'Activity Monitor' and quit the Microsoft
Database Daemon (if it is running).

Now, move the 'Microsoft' folder from ~/Library/Preferences to the desktop
and restart entourage.

This will force a re-creation of the prefs files. Does it help?

You could also try moving the file com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist
from the prefs as well, but I doubt that this will have any effect.

I greatly appreciate your help. Tried what you said and it still locks
up Entourage as well as the Microsoft Error Reporting Application.

Any other suggestions? I'd sure hate to have to switch to "Mail", but
need to change some prefs. Love This version of Entourage also.

In that case, the only other option I can suggest is that you use the
'remove office' tool to completely remove office from your system, then
re-install it. Note that this will preserve your data, but will remove the
office apps, prefs and all support files.

The only other thing to check would be for corrupt or duplicate fonts. Do
this with 'font book' (in the utilties folder) after removing office.

I tried to access it's prefs. Removed Office and reinstalled it.

Checked all my fonts as well and they seem OK.

Entourage works but I still can't access it's prefs.

Any other ideas?

Can you open the prefs immediately after starting entourage?

No, they lock up. I've disabled "Microsoft Error Reporting" Both
applications stop responding and I have to force quit them.

It seems like there are some issues with Tiger and Office. I had some
problems with Excel this morning too. Quitting and locking up. I used
my old, classic version of Office 2001. Shame that.
