Cannot open Outlook

I have Windows XP Professional, and Office XP 2002. When
I try to open Outlook it begins to open up then
disappears after less than a second. Then a small dialog
box opens up with a red X on the left that says: "Cannot
start Microsoft Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook
window."

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, then running
the repair for Office. I even thought the problem might
be with Windows XP itself, so I reinstalled that. Nothing
I have done so far has helped.

I would really like to use Outlook, so any help that you
could give me would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kay

Thank you for replying. I may have posted a question too
quickly; sorry I didn't look harder for the answer.

While waiting for your reply I read several pages of
posts and finally found one similar to mine. The answer
was to find the *.srs file for your profile and delete
it; if that didn't work, go to control panel>mail>and
create a new profile. The *.srs thing didn't work. When
looking at my profile I found about 6 of them, only 2
with my name on them, the rest were just random strings
of letters, one of which was the default. I deleted them
all, created a new one using my name, and then Outlook
opened fine.

So, even though the page you sent me to has another
answer, creating the new profile worked for me. I thought
I'd write this in case someone else has the same problem
and looks to see the answer.
