Cannot remove custom animations

I duplicated a slide to reuse in the same presentation. I want to remove
the animations and do something different with it. When I click "remove", I
get beeped at and it won't work. It's as if there is an open dialogue box
somewhere but there isn't. Any suggestions?

How are you removing the custom animations? Are you selecting them all the
the Custom Animation task pane, and then deleting them?

Also which version of PowerPoint are you using?

Animations may be applied to the master slide. To access on individual slide
right-click animation and select COPY EFFECTS TO SLIDE. Now they can be
edited or removed.

On one file I am using in powerpoint, it will indeed apply "fade in one by
one" and works fine on the whole slide. On another file, it does not. It only
fades in on the title block. The rest of the presentation below on the slide
is just regular and will NOT fade in. As best I know, the settings are the
same and I am clicking the same buttons. Why will it not work the same on
both files??

Hi, I'm not using a animation scheme (to the best of my knowledge). Also if
I assign custom animations to 2 items and then go back to change or remove
one - I cannot change it. The only thing I can do is ungroup the object or
make it a group and upgroup it and start all over. Any other suggestions?
Is this a crazy Vista thing or a ppt 2007 thing?
