Cannot run mpg or mpeg files

For some reason I can no longer load and run mpg files in
PP. I have tried the various solution offered by
microsoft, checking the registry entries, resetting MPG t
be played by WMP etc. Would it help to unload
quicktime. One of the message that I get has t do with
non-standard files not recognized by quicktime.

So the message is something like "quicktime or a decompressor is needed..."?

If that's the case, it's probably a codec issue. Have you read

also want to make sure that your MCI settings (in your registry or in your
INI files, depending on your version of Windows) are correct as described in
the tutorial.
