cannot send e-mail to outside company network

I use Entourage with an exchange server inside my company network.
When I try to send an e-mail to an outside address I get the following
error text:

"A message in your Outbox could not be sent using account "xxx.xxx -
Exchange Account." The server did not recognize the recipients or the
server refuses to allow you to send mail.

5.7.1 <[email protected]>... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed
[yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy]"

(The x's and y's are of course real names and numbers in the original
error message.)

This problem started today. I have been running without problems for
months. When I switch to using Outlook 2001 for Mac, I have no
problem.

Anyone has an idea?

The Exchange server needs to have SMTP services turned on. Your
administrator has apparently made a change to the configuration of your
Exchange server, and you should check with them.

Turning authentication on might help.

See <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/exchange_server.html#anchor-exup9>
for more tips.
