Cannot send emails

Hello,

Suddenly I am unable to SEND emails from six "sub" accounts I have. These are all normally sent via a single primary (BT Internet) address which is entered in the "Sending Mail" account section.
However, it's important to note I can RECEIVE emails to all my accounts, no problem.

A seventh sub-account used by my partner on a different computer (PC using Outlook) also sends emails via the same primary address - and works fine..

Obviously there is a problem logging to this primary address specifically in my Entourage.

There is nothing wrong with the primary's own set-up because I CAN send messages from that (and the "sending" info is identical).

Please help

Suddenly I am unable to SEND emails from six "sub" accounts I have. These are

BASICS:
1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.
A seventh sub-account used by my partner on a different computer (PC using
Outlook) also sends emails via the same primary address - and works fine..

Obviously there is a problem logging to this primary address specifically in

There is nothing wrong with the primary's own set-up because I CAN send

User reports: I was just talking to a BT Helpdesk lady on another matter and
I mentioned my (and others) problems associated with Entourage not
supporting the SMTP authentication. The answer she gave me works!!

Ensure that all of the check boxes under the Advanced Sending Settings drop
down are UNCHECKED - do NOT check SMTP needs authentication!!!

This solution should work for all UK BT customers and hopefully it may help
others in the US with a similar problem.

I had hoped your suggestion would solve the problem but I still cannot send.
Over the weekend I muddled my way through sending files using wireless.
Could this have changed identities and if so how can that be fixed. I'm
totally clueless at this point and desperate, too. Any suggestions?

I'm confused. Are you adding on to this thread started in March or were you
the original author? Please start your own thread with all pertinent info.

When asking a question please include which machine you're running and which
version of OS X, as certain answers will vary between different Macs and
Tiger vs. Leopard, etc.

We also need to know what version of Entourage you are using including any
updates.

What type of account? (POP, IMAP, Exchange)
What you have tried.
Did you test in a new User? Did you test in a new Identity?
