Cannot send group messages.

Sorry for the earlier error when I sent a blank message.

Anyway, when I try to send e-mail to groups I created in Entourage I
will get the following message and, as best I can tell, no one receives
what I send. The error message is "A message in your Outbox could not
be sent using account "Siscom". The server did not recogniZe the
recipients or the server refuses to allow you to send mail. Explanation:
sorry no mailbox here by that name (#5.1.1 - chkusr)" Then "Error
5505

Siscom, my IP, says just one incorrect address will cause that error.
How do you work around this when it does not tell you which address
is incorrect? My first attempt was to a group of 93 people and then to
22 people all to no avail. I was successful to a group of 3 people.

I have a second problem I found while trying to write this message on
this web site. If I type the lowercase "Z" I will get a popup that says
"JavaScript. This window is not resiZable!" My only option is to click OK
and let it close and loose what I have written. I'm using the Safari
browser. Any ideas? I have reported this bug to Apple.

It's not a question of an incorrect email address - it's an _invalid_
address. All email addresses need one and only one @ sign, only normal
(ASCII) letters and numbers plus the _underscore character, must have at
least one "." dot after the @, none before, not two together. You're going
to have to look through the group to see if there are any that break this
rule. Perhaps you managed to include a contact (with "little man" icon in
the group list) who has no email address, only a display name.

Very strange. Forget the website. Go to Microsoft News Server icon in your
folder list in Entourage, click Update List button, type in ".mac" in the
little filter box, and select this newsgroup plus any others you want, click
Subscribe. Now in the Folder List you will see these newsgroups. Click on
this one, and send off your questions. No problem with lower-case "z", plus
you'll see your question and some answers usually within minutes rather than
several hours as on the web. You have to click command-L to refresh the
newsgroup (get new messages), or instead click away to another newsgroup or
folder, then back to the newsgroup, to get new messages..

Please "Reply To Newsgroup" to reply to this message. Emails will be
ignored.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - 2001 or X.
It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.

Thanks for the tips Paul. I'm now using the Microsoft News Server and the
problem typing the lowercase "x" seems to be okay. Before I was using Safari
1.0 (v85) going through the Microsoft Mactopia web site.

My version of Entourage is 10.1.1 and my OS is OSX 10.2.6.

I carefully checked the addresses in one of my group lists that was giving
me problems and every one of them was addressed according to the rules.
Experimenting with this it seems that a quantity greater than 9 or 10 in the
list is what causes the problem. One acquaintance told me she had this
problem with Microsoft software, while working in a government office, and
had to break down large numbers of addresses into groups of 10 or less and
then she would address the e-mails using one or more of the small groups. It
also seems that if you address mail with too many individual addresses you
will encounter the same problems as listed in my original posting. What a
nuisance!

This all came up when I switched to DSL from dial-up and wanted to tell most
everyone in my address book of my new address.

Thanks - Ray
