I just bought and installed Microsoft Entourage to go with my new
PowerBook G4. I'm a converted PC user, and have loved everything
except for the problems I'm having with Entourage. Much of my
business is being done via e-mail, and I currently cannot send via my
Yahoo account (which I never had a problem with using Outlook XP).
When authentication is turned on, I receive a 5530 error message.
When it is turned off, I receive an error message saying that "a
connection error has occured". I have searched through the entire
newsgroup database, and have found nothing that has worked for me. I
am receiving messages fine, and using AOL to dial-up (they say that I
have everything configured correctly for my pop account to work
through my dial-up with them). Any thoughts???

Hi Brian,

The Entourage FAQ says this:
Error 5530

Toggling the "SMTP server requires authentication" setting in Advanced
sending options of the account settings may fix the problem.

You probably need to enable authentification as suggested here.
