I have one Powerbook G4 (15") user (Mac OS 10.2.8) who is remote (on a Linksys cable modem through a Linksys Wireless B router to his Airport card), who has a problem with getting the following error
Mail could not be sent using the account "_____.__________.com.
A connection failure has occurred
Error: -2301
The error did not occur when we first set up the account... but only when he starts up again next day... and we've made another user profile to try it again and it repeats. He can retrieve messages via a web browser.
We've tried to change the Account to show his IP address as the SMTP server address, but that didn't help
I run the Linux-based mail server. We do not require SMTP authentication. Relaying permission is coded by putting his IP address in the tcp.smtp file for this user, so he need not authenticate separately. We've checked his IP, and it is static. All other users can connect and send okay, including Entourage users inside the network and outside.
Prior to this installation the computer has been regularly working with out fail
