Cannot Send Via POP3 on an Exchange 2007 Server

My company recently upgraded to Exchange 2007 and I can no longer send
using POP3. I receive email just fine but when I try to send or reply
I get the following error:
"The server for account "POP3" returned the error "5.7.3
Authentication unsuccessful." Your username/password or security
settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your
password?"

My username and password have not changed, I can receive email fine,
and I can create a new account using Apple Mail using the same login,
password and settings and it works fine.

I am connected to the same server for a different email address using
the exchange settings in entourage and it works fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

That's really weird. POP3 is a protocol for reeiving not sending.
The only reason that I can think of for this pmessage to appear is if
you previously had the account configured to use "POP before SMTP" for
the same account.
If you are using an Exchange 2007 server and are using Entourage 2004,
you should configure your account for Exchange. It uses WebDAV for
everything and you won;t have to worry about the SMTP settings anymore.

The SMTP settings might be different then.

I had the same problem. It is possible that your administrator is
blocking all non-company related smtp traffic from inside your
corporate network (mine does).
