cannot view the proper font on equation editor

Hi,

I am using word that came with xp standard, i think year
2002.

When I insert an equation, I used equation editorv3.0.
However, when I wanted to enter something like p = h
divided by lambda. I do not see my equal sign, i also do
not see the lambda sign properly. Instead my equal sign
is a subset sign and lambda is smehitng else altogether.

I do not wish to install MAthtype, cause it costs money.

Anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Thanks

Enter the equal sign from keyboard. Lambda is on greek palette (dropdown),
you have to open this from the toolbar. Actually, there is a palette for
lower-case and upper-case greek characters.

Check whether the Symbol font has been installed..

There is no need to purchase MathType, if you requirements are simple and
you do not need number equations. It has a good interface, it does a great
job, it has a lot of symbols, but for occasional or simple equations, the
version included in Word suffices.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.

I did use the equal button on the keyboard. But when i
pressed it while using equation editor, the screen
displays the subset sign.

I do have the symbol font. It is in the dropdown list
under 'Fonts'.

I do not see the different palettes for uppercase and
lower case greek letters. In anycase, there is only one
icon to choose for lambda. The equation editor v3.0 gives
me something else.

Thanks
