I have a Canon EOS rebel that is working exelent.
However, when I import the pictures into powerpoint 2003 the clors are going

What could be the problem??

Limor,

Have you tried opening the JPGs in a graphics application (photoshop, paint
shop pro, etc) and re-saving them. Then inserting them into powerpoint?

thanks for the answer - however...
I have tried to save with adobe photoshop - no good...
however, tring to save for web - might do the job... need to find out. (much
smaller image though)

The big answer is changing the Parameters in the camera to 'parameter1'
instead of 'Adobe RGB' might sove the problem....

There have been issues with PPT and the Adobe color management profiles
before. Turning off that "Adobe RGB" would be the first thing I'd do...

As for the "much smaller image" thing, you don't really need a high-res
image. See What's all this about DPI and INCHES and RESOLUTION?
